Victory!

I'll be back to crafting tomorrow, but for tonight - VICTORY! My son Braxton, who is 6 1/2 years old, just WON his first Kids Wrestling Tournament!  That's right, 1st place!!!  We couldn't be more proud of him.  He worked so hard, had a great time, and came home with the win.  It was a LONG day, but Keely was quite a trooper.  My Dad and Mom were able to come watch a couple matches, which we really appreciated.  My laptop is getting some upgrades, otherwise I'd post a couple pics.  Just had to share the wonderful news!!!  We are SO blessed and so Thankful and Grateful for the lives that we have built with the help of God and our family.  :)

Oh, and a few more highlights....
Braxton moved up a reading level this week, he is now on 11.
Braxton earned a certificate from his teacher for completing 3 math addition time tests (the 2nd person in his class to do so!).
Keely had junior cheer practice this week....I still can't believe she's old enough!  She REALLY enjoys it.  Her performance will be next Tuesday!  :)

My Latest Obsession

I have NOT been able to stop thinking about Zipper Rings since I first had a chance to try to make them while visiting my friend in Nebraska.  I brought along a few crafty things that I'd been wanting to try to make, instead of our usual scrapbooking get-together....and we had SO MUCH FUN!!! I'll be posting some of the things we made over the next couple of days, but this is probably my absolute favorite:

It's a RING, made out of a ZIPPER!  Can you believe it?  Don't you just LOVE it?  Here's a close up:

Oh, and here is one in light pink:

I'm slightly obsessed with them!!!  I just bought a bunch more zippers in different colors (you should've SEEN the look on the cashier's face....yes, I'm crazy).

So, truly....what do you think?  I've made a few for myself, but am up for making more for others if you're interested in having the latest statement piece without a huge investment!  :)  Yay for attempting to be a cool mom!  LOLOLOL

It's Good to be Busy...

Busy?  That's not a "busy-enough" word to describe the last two months at the Kindel House.  December took off with the start of Con-Kids Wrestling, which Braxton decided to participate in this year.  Tournaments started in December, followed by Holidays, and a brief visit from an unwelcomed guest - the FLU.  Despite being under the weather, we still had a VERY wonderful Christmas...and are truly BLESSED.

We have welcomed January with more wrestling tournaments (Braxton has two 3rd place medals!), a wonderful visit to my friend Jenny's to do some crafts and snuggle her new baby, and Keely is participating in Jr. Cheer (I can't BELIEVE my BABY is old enough for that)!

And now, on to my new project....which, besides the whole "Business/Wife/Mom" STUFF, has REALLY been inspiring and, what's another word for BUSY??!!!

As some of you may, or may not, know....I like crafty stuff.  Specifically, I like to take simple, everyday things, and make them fun, functional, beautiful, etc...  I am not always creative enough to come up with the ideas on my own - but once I see something, I immediately think "Hey, I can DO that!"  So, I've been scouring over the most wonderful, beautiful, creative and inspiring blogs over the last few weeks.  I've gotten dozens, no - Hundreds of ideas of things to make.  Some for my home, some to wear, some for my kids, some for organization, some for decoration....and so on.

I've been making Domino necklaces for a couple years, and continue to get orders for those.  I also recently started making Metal Stamped necklaces.  My FAVORITE things to make are things that are PERSONAL.  You know, either Monogrammed, or meaningful in some other way to the person that I'm making it for.  The Domino necklaces ususally have a theme of some kind (favorite sport, dance, gymnastics, "wrestlers mom," etc...along with some "pretty" designs).

The Metal Stamped necklaces are usually of people's children or grandchildrens names.

My HOPE, my "plan" is:
1.  Continue to make these fun project ideas that I've found.
2.  Drastically update and improve this blog.
3.  Try to "blog" about each new project that I've done (you know, with pictures and stuff!)
*** How fun would it be to have a "Project of the Week!"?? ***

I'm still working out the details of all of this...but it has definitely added another busy, but very fun and satisfying dynamic to my life.  I make these things for myself and my family, and as gifts, and they will also be available for purchase if you're interested.

I cannot express how THANKFUL I am to my family and friends for being so supportive of my new endeavor, and to all of you that have taken an interest in my creations.  Happy Crafting!  :)
